DAY 50 JULY 14 BUMMIN AROUND SLOVENIA

Day Trippers....Bled
Voikan took time off to continue to show us super Slovenia.  We took a drive to majestic Bled.  Wow, it's  as  pretty as they say.  Bled is an Alpine town located aside glacial Lake Bled.  Stunning.

Yes Bub, that island in the middle of the lake is home to Assumption of Mary Pilgrimage.  Everybody likes to ring the bell for good luck. Pleep went ringing crazy.  Before the church was built there was a temple consecrated to Ziva, the Slavic goddess of love and fertility.  No worries Bub, that ship has sailed.

Perched on a rock over looking Lake Bled is the Bled Castle.

Checked out the Grand Hotel...quite nice and the place where notables spend the night.  Note to self:  book a room here on the next Slovenian visit.

Never mind that...let's go find some of this famous Bled cake.

I think I see the cake place....

Dushanka enjoys the little hat on her Slovenian soup.....slurp.

Finally, eureka.  Ok, Dushan, finish up, and let's saddle up and take Dushanka over to check out Ljubljana..

.  LEWWWWBLAMA?  Yeah, something like that Dush.

Ljubljana
Capital of Slovenia...but first stop "EPL" store.  Huh?  Oh they mean the Apple store.  Too much custard pie for lunch I guess.  Dushanka takes her Ipad in to see if they can give her pointers on how to organize the gazillion pictures she has taken and don't fit on the IPAD.

Pleep always enjoys a trip to the EPL store and learning new tricks.  Ah, Mrs. Dushanka, no I am afraid you didn't buy enough memory when you ordered the IPAD so this is it....wait till you get home to sort out the pictures as it would take forever with the PAD.  Grrrrrm.  But Dushanka did see what she SHOULD have bought for the trip- the new MAC Air (lighter than the MAC Pro and bigger than the toy IPAD).  Live and learn I suppose.

As Bubs affectionately calls it "Lube",  is not only the capital but also the largest city in Slovenia with over 271,000 inhabitants.  It is also the cultural, educational, economic, political and administrative center of Slovenia- a member of the EU since 2004.

Reminds me a little of San Antonio, Texas' river walk.

Quite the medieval city...lots of architecture and history.

Who knew Lewwwblama was so fabulous?

Looks like it might be a nice place to go to college.  Not bad.

Of course there is always time for the Cafe and girl watching.
And we meet Andrea back in Maribor, up on the mountain for dinner.   For gosh sakes, this fabulous chef needs a break already!  She has taken such fine care of Dushan and Dushanka.  Thank you again and again.  Voikan really found a wonderful soul mate.  May you have many many wonderful, fun, healthy and prosperous years together.
