DAY 45 JULY 9 KOLUT, SERBIA

KAOS IN KOLUT

Bub's back is jacked up so a day of R and R is required. Dushan has a neighbor/relative (aren't they all?) come by the house to give Bub's some PT.  Success.  Much better...that ol'back surgery he had last fall is not quite turning out as we had hoped.  Still wobbling and bobbing...old pain gone but new pain arrived.  Just new and different.  Ok, the doc said, it could take up to a year or so to reap the benefits.  Hoping and praying.  And Dushanka-Boca continues on with her compassionate demeanor,..

Everyday we wake up to a scrumptious breakfast made by Miriana, Dushan's sister.  She drives over from her house, before work to prepare a beautiful breakfast and more.  Does anyone NOT know how to cook around here?  Jelana, insists on doing all clean up not letting Boca lift a finger.  She must have heard about the "Boca" in the kitchen.

Dushan shared 100's of family photo's with us...he promised to put them in an album by our next visit...my sister, Neesie, visited with my Mom a few years back.
There's Mizie with the gang...

Dushan brings cousin, "Dushanka", some garlic to get her day going.  We are sure he was also (you know by now there are a load of Dushan's in our family) named after one of the most powerful King's of Serbia.  Today we call cuz Dush- the Mayor of Kolut.

Dushanka is still working on completing it....

Dinner at Milo Moia....my Uncle Milan's House
I could not stop hugging him and he could not stop crying.  Now I know where the Meric's get that cry jag gene.  Or was it the garlic?  Uncle Milan is the nephew of my grandfather.  He is 79 and still climbs trees to cut down limbs...yup.  What an attitude...matched with a very fit body.  How come I didn't get that Meric gene?

Milan's daughters, Rada and Slavica brought their families over for dinner to meet cousin "Dushanka".
Lots of hugs and laughing...yes that is a wooden cross made by Papoo (my step dad).  He gave it to them many years ago.  Still up on the wall....

Is this what they meant by a Serbian Uprising?  Alexa is in high school and will be going to a special school in Belgrade in the fall to play basketball.  The hopes are to be a member of their national team.  He is a fine young man and I am sure will do well...can you imagine me sending Nick to a large city to live with a buddy while he was in high school!!!

Ana, the only granddaughter...sweet.

What's not to love and spoil?  Precious Dimitri is 2 and the Prince of the family.  Cousin Ogie was in Novi Sad and was missed.

Dushan's son, Stevisa, and wife and new baby stopped by for a hug and a laugh.

Cousin Goran (son of  Rade and Soka), a grand nephew of my grandfather and his lively son Milos.  I had a chance to meet the lovely wife Sonja latter on.

And chef of the evening, Anka.  Smiling must be contagious in this house,

Thank you Thank you dear family.  Sorry Uncle Milan, Dushan-Bubba was out of commission and couldn't walk over for the love feast!

And speaking of Feasts a bit more about Milka and Milena's B and B and restaurant "AURARIA"

The sisters have a beautiful "small hotel" and outstanding restaurant and catering and and...don't forget the new Pizzeria and Take Out.  If you ever get near Sombor do yourself a favor and check in...and just start ordering and eating.  You will thank us later.  Here's the web site...
